_____________________________________________________
Potzblitz – already 1000 issues of Open Password. – No, that would be far too easy. Because for the 30 years before the first edition of Open Password in 2016, the “P” stood for paper. It was only much later that this wonderful online push service came along, first in a symbiosis with print and then from 2016 it was still the push service, but now as online only – and there we have a “P” again! I can clearly remember that I didn’t even want to subscribe to the push service. Now I find him interesting and somehow reassuring: I always know when he comes that Willi is fine, he has already worked again while I was still dreaming gently and blissfully about the little angels! And of course the push service also stands for “concise”.
You all have to know that Willi loves to “PUSH out” whatever he has captured – and we have another characteristic word that determines Willi’s work every day, even if the “P” is hidden in the middle of the word. Furthermore, the “P” stands for Password PARTNER.” Yes, Willi has captivated many partners over such a long time. The beautiful logo that draws attention to the PARTNER is clearly visible – and when a password PARTNER says or writes something, it has a very special weight.
However, one partner logo is missing: the partner logo for Gerda! What would Password be without Gerda? – I think I can say that that wouldn’t have worked. Willi, you will certainly agree with me that your Gerda deserves a special Password Partner logo – namely for the longest loyalty that a Password Partner has ever achieved.
So let’s remember: Willi constantly pumps out passwords and concise push services with partners as planned. In a nutshell: Willi is a professional.

A_________________________________________________________
And now to “A”. What might it stand for? – Well, it doesn’t just mean “work”, but “plough”. How much of a burden can it be to generate a push service three times a week, with one or two cover stories and other news? But our Willi is hard-working, reliable and punctual. Always a reliable partner for its subscribers.
Actually, the “A” stands for quality. Willi is not just a workhorse, no, but an ace: an ace when it comes to writing and reporting from the infobroker scene, an ace when it comes to editing or when it comes to organizing events. He is the respectable court reporter of the infobroker scene.
The A also makes me think of Willi’s work bag. A legendary leathered thing. When he was traveling with me, he no longer dared to use them. A few years ago, the family in Italy gave him a noble piece as a replacement – but Willi couldn’t really get used to it. I think when I’m not there he still travels around the country with the old bag.
So let’s remember: Plowing workhorse with a leather work bag. But, above all: Ace and respectable court reporter for our oh-so-small information industry.
Yes, and now you, dear reader, will probably be wondering what I plan to do with the two “S”. I can assure you, I’m glad we have two of them. Because we urgently need it to do justice to 35 years of Password and Open Password.

S
_____________________________________________________
The first “S” stands for write. But it also stands for the “subscribers”. And the “S” also stands for sweat. Not only did the writing sometimes make the editor sweat.
No, at least not in the days of print media. It also cost Gerda a lot of sweat when managing subscribers to make the fifth change to the department name, street or house number. As a family business, Password has also brought sweat to the eyes of the two children, Barbara and Christian, on many occasions. Whether as a PC doctor, as an interviewer or as a representative of the editor-in-chief – they were always there when things got tight in production or administration.
At least things have gotten better with the transition from Password to Open Password, although they have been replaced by other technical problems. Here Willi could always rely on his partner Michael Klems, who also set up the Open Password technical system.
So let’s remember: Always sweat on your forehead when writing, always tell good stories, always be there for astonished subscribers.

S
_____________________________________________________
Yes, now it’s getting exciting. The second “S”? – It’s actually quite clear what this stands for. For SUPER. That’s a word that Willi himself likes to use, but only in exceptional cases, when you’ve really done something really well.
Which attribute fits Willi best? Well, first of all, FAST. I don’t know who of Open Password’s readers has ever seen Willi write. We both competed once and what we were able to put down on paper in the time we had was breathtaking.
Yes, and if we think about the push service, another attribute is appropriate, namely SUPER fast. And what else is great? It’s great, of course, if you save the files or versions you’re currently editing. Sometimes it’s not that easy, at least not in the beginning when we both worked together. Sometimes one thing or another disappeared. But since Willi’s storage was always full, it wasn’t so bad. And for several years now, this “S” has stood for sporty, as Willi trains regularly and even during Corona times.
So let’s remember: SUPER fast, SUPER current, SUPER Memory, SUPER sporty.
We have now left the first four letters of password behind us and passed the “PASS”. Now we walk over the top of the pass to the other side and come to the second part, the WORD :
_____________________________________________________
W
_____________________________________________________
Of course, the “W” stands for WILLI at WORK. Maybe after 35 years of passwords it’s also called madness? It’s crazy that Password and Open Password still exist.
Yes! It’s not just madness, no, it’s also a miracle. Willi certainly went through some tough times, through ups and downs, braved all the storms and always continued to work diligently. He has continually developed Password and has always kept up with the times.
So let’s remember: Willis work and madness truly and truly amaze.
_____________________________________________________
O
_____________________________________________________
And now to the “O”. Let’s think about the nuts and bolts. As an industry organ, is Password the be-all and end-all? But the “O” also stands for Grandpa – a job he has been doing for eleven years now and which has no end since he has now had three more grandchildren. But the “O” also reminds me of the word TOR, which has an “O” in the middle. Along with Password and being a grandpa, football is Willi’s favorite hobby.
So let’s remember: Password is the be-all and end-all of the industry. Willi as editor and grandpa – open to the door!
_____________________________________________________
R
_____________________________________________________
Now we move on to the “R”. That’s easy. For me, the focus is on the word editing. “If there’s one thing Willi can really do, it’s editing,” a colleague once told me. And I can only confirm that from some of my own experience.
So let’s remember: Editor edits reports in the editorial office.
_____________________________________________________
D
_____________________________________________________
And now we move on to the last letter, the “D”. I’m just a Berliner. And when a Berliner thinks of a “D”, the first thing that comes to mind is “dufte”. Willi, it’s great that the (Open) Password exists. And to underline the miracle from before even better, let me put it a little differently at this point: It’s amazing that Password has been around for so long.
I am convinced that as long as Password exists, our InfoPro industry will also exist. And you deserve a big thank you for that. Thanks from all your readers and thanks from the industry.
So let’s remember: thunderstorm. Thank you for three decades of great reporting.
_____________________________________________________
OPEN
_____________________________________________________
And since 2016? The push service is open to everyone. Now Willi’s password is also available as OPEN Access! We can all deal with open source publishing and the OPEN password push service in the OPEN office – in Corona times, if possible in the OPEN air office. Willi’s push service is OPEN everyday, OPEN online, OPEN on demand, OPEN everywhere and, above all, with OPEN end. This is crucial!
Thank you Willi for continuing to work OPEN end so that we have an OPEN network in our community. Without OPEN Password we would be significantly poorer for an OPEN Attraction. Willi: stay open minded and always OPEN! We are happy and grateful that Willi keeps our OPEN Network community alive.
_____________________________________________________
OPEN PASSWORD with OPEN END for ever!
_____________________________________________________
Let’s summarize: Willi is a PROFESSIONAL. Willi is an ace. Willi is GREAT! Willi is great! Let’s follow the two “S” with three “W”s, i.e. WWW: Password is truly, wonderful madness. Password remains the be-all and end-all of the industry. What are we left with? RD = Many thanks! And especially for an OPEN password with OPEN END. We wish from you: OPEN Password for ever!
Dr. Sabine Graumann from Graumann Consulting has been working with the password editor since the early 1990s, including on several large market research projects, and is Willi Bredemeier’s oldest cooperation partner (in terms of years of cooperation, not years of life). The contribution to “1000 Editions of Open Password” is an update and revision of Sabine Graumann’s laudatory speech at the 2016 Book Fair on the occasion of a celebration at the Book Fair to say goodbye to Password Print.
APE 2022:
11 – 13 January 2022
The Future of the Permanent Record
Ladies and Gentlemen,
dear Speakers, Participants, Sponsors, and Friends of the APE Conference,
with less than one month to go, we are happy to share some exciting news about APE 2022.
At the end of November, we announced that, due to the alarming Covid-19 situation in Germany, the next APE Conference would be a digital-only event. Even though we were all hoping for an in-real-life event, the strong program and excellent speakers are a guarantee for another successful conference.
During the last weeks, we reorganized the program . The conference will now take place over three days , beginning at 13:00 CET and ending around 18:00 CET:
APE 2022 – The Future of the Permanent Record
11 – 13 January 2022
The conference will be hosted again on the Morressier platform. During the breaks, you will have the chance to join various breakout rooms, where you will be able to talk to some of the speakers and ask questions, but also informally network with other delegates.
If you are interested in one of the sessions, but are busy during that time, do not worry: every session will be recorded and available right after the conference on the Morressier platform. Please check out the new ticket options for the event: https://ti.to/ape.eu/ape-2022
A big thank you goes out to our full sponsors, Wiley, Springer Nature, Elsevier, Morressier, De Gruyter, Taylor & Francis, Digital Science, and our co-sponsors Atypon and STM, for supporting us in making another great conference possible. We hope that you will join us for APE2022!
Best wishes from Berlin,
Eric Merkel-Sobotta and Marta Dossi

Horizon Business
First virtual and avatar-supported networking for business contacts
(Scholderer) Business networking with a difference: The virtual platform set up for the international online congress “ITSM Horizon” this year remains live and is under the new name “Horizon Business” ( https://www.horizonbusiness.de ) accessible as a new social network. It is the first networking for business contacts that is designed purely virtually in 3D and is avatar-based. In contrast to similarly named offers (“social network in 3D”), this is primarily about business contacts and thematic live exchange between members, not virtual games.
The idea for the new network came from Dr. Robert Scholderer, consultant, university lecturer and author on the subject of IT service management and managing director of Scholderer GmbH. The implementation and maintenance of the new business network is carried out by 3D Ready GmbH, a subsidiary of the Scholderer Group.
“With Horizon Business, we want to supplement the offerings of conventional career networks such as LinkedIn and XING with a contemporary tool,” says Robert Scholderer. As with the existing career forums, interested parties can become members, create profiles and network with other users. “They can also contact each other directly via their avatars, chat with each other or make phone calls via the web.”
Even if games are not the focus, the platform is deliberately kept playful, in accordance with the gaming concept (gamification) that was the basis for the online congress “ITSM Horizon”.
Viola Falkenberg
Practical guide for science transfer
(Attempto) More and more people from the sciences should make their results known, also in order to receive funding in the first place. To do this, you need to know a lot: What needs to be included in the legal notice? Where is the image material? How do you write to be heard? For her book “Science Communication: From the Lecture Hall to the Spotlight,” lecturer Viola Falkenberg has put together how people from science and research can develop and implement seriously successful concepts.
The author guides you step by step through practice using examples from various disciplines as well as research results on science communication. She ranges from the basics of storytelling to the rules of social networks to the production of books, podcasts and videos. “Whether it’s a wiki or a website, a lecture or an event: Anyone who expresses themselves publicly must know the rules in order to avoid shitstorms and crises and to be able to react competently if the worst comes to the worst,” says Falkenberg. She rounded off the textbook with exercises, checklists, tips for financing, 30 competitions in which you can apply yourself and seven suggestions on how structural deficits in science communication can be reduced. The 260-page book was published by narr-Francke-Attempto-Verlag in Tübingen at utb and costs 24.90 euros, as an eBook 19.99 euros. ISBN 978-3-8252-5670-8, eBook 978-3-8385-5670-3.
Viola Falkenberg is a trained journalist and specialist book author, trains people from the sciences as a lecturer in press and public relations through the “Academy for Press Work – Pressada” and was deputy chairwoman of the broadcasting council of Radio Breme
